Idaho Wilderness Elk hunt for Huge Bulls
This hunt is in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness in Idaho. These camps are very remote and this hunt target big bulls. This is an “any weapon” elk hunt in the month of Sept and Oct. This is an affordable rifle rut hunt. We primarily hunt the peak of the rut from September 20 – Oct 10. The wolves crushed this area’s elk population but there are still solid pockets of elk and they are coming back. Because of very low hunter pressure and remoteness, these bulls are able to push over that magical 350 mark. We used to pull over 40 bulls a year out of this area and now we only take 5-6 clients a year and we chase the big ones. These tags are over the counter and you don’t have to mess around with the draw. This hunt is for fit hunters that have the “elk hunting maturity” to hunt low density elk looking for a monster. So you can go to a private ranch and pay upwards of 15,000 dollars for a bull of this caliber or you can grease up your boots and go after them with grit and resolve and only pay $5900. You will also have a wolf tag in your pocket and if you get one, there is no extra fee.
We will be targeting bulls from 300-350 and better. The best bull that has been pulled out by us in the last few years is 368.
You will be staying in comfy, warm, wall tents and eating back country cooking that will keep your belly full. It’s amazing how “luxurious” we are able to make things miles and miles from the trailhead.
