Trip Report: Idaho Elk Hunt
Marc had great communication, the outfitter did not actively communicate much leading up to the hunt. I would imagine that if you’ve never elk hunted before if might be a bit overwhelming without a pre-set gear list, etc…
Food and Lodging Review
We stayed in 5th wheel trailers which were more than adequate. The outfitters wife who normally cooks the meals was not there that we week, so all of the guides stepped up and cooked good food.
Trip Report Details
We were into bulls the whole trip, it was just a matter of getting in close enough for a clear/ethical shot. The rut was just starting to get going while we were there, so there were a lot of bulls stealing cows from other bulls, which made for a really entertaining hunt.
This ranch is fairly small on the scheme of private ranches, but the elk on it are very hunt-able. The outfitter has been on this property for 17 years and it shows in the way they scout, approach, and put together their daily plans on getting their client in the best spots to kill.
