The Hunt
This elk hunting area is where I have years worth of experience in. The beautiful thing about this large track of remote public land is it has lots of elk and deer and some solid big bulls. This outfit uses mobile “small camps” to find pockets of unworked bulls and has a very high opportunity hunt. Average heard bull will be a 6 x 6 and their are some monsters in here as well because the rifle hunting is a very limited draw. On top of that there are good deer in this area and you will have a tag for that in your pocket as well. The other very neat thing about this hunt is the deer tag you will have along is good for a wolf, bear, deer and cougar!
You need to be fit and ready to walk or ride. This is a rugged hunting area and you need to be ready.
Trophy Quality
Average trophy quality on elk will be 5 x 5 and 6 x 6 and there bulls killed in this area every year over 350. The deer in this area can be really nice. 150-170 is average but deer over 190 are killed in here every year.
Dates
Dates start in September and go through October.
Food and Lodging
These camps will be either wall tents or small backpacking tents and meals will be some real food mixed with Mountain House meals for easy mobility and hard hunting free of “camp luxuries.”
