Argentina Red Stag Hunt & More
The Hunt
Hunters can expect relatively flat terrain. Type of hunting: Spot and stalk, afternoon hunts may be sitting on a water hole. Bring a tougher outer shell for still hunting in the am. The brush down there is thorny so nylon outer shells can’t take it. Stand hunting down is an option and a great choice. Hiking boots bring what’s comfy. You won’t need extreme hiking boots. Gloves are recommended, gators are a must! Good gators like Peax are strong and sturdy, Kuiu’s, Sitka and Kennetrex. There’s a ton of sand burs down there so we try to keep them off of your pant legs. House shoes are highly recommended too.
Success rate is very high – depending on trophy quality and accuracy of the hunters’ shots. Hunters can expect 100% shot opportunity depending on their ability. There is a wound loss policy, if the shot draws blood that animal is considered hit. If that animal is not found, the wound loss policy stands and that is your animal. There will be many resources available to track wounded animals. Licenses will be available at lodge and must be paid prior to arrival through communication with the outfitter. Add on animals can be paid after harvest. Credit cards will be accepted.
Additional Information
We have a travel agent that is very familiar with the operation and logistics who will book all flights and travel. One call will take care of any and all travel. Our gun permit person will handle all paperwork associated with import. Our exporter will handle all game animals from the lodge to delivery to USA. If you decide that it would be easier to use a gun provided by the outfitter Gun rental and ammo is an option, the gun rental runs $300 per person plus ammunition. This is an option If you plan to bow hunt and would also like the opportunity to rifle hunt certain specie without bringing your own firearm.
Gun permits (for personal rifles) are $250.
Tips/Exchange: Exchange rates for tips and Argentina conversion should be done with CLEAN, NEW $100 bills. They will then exchange at approximately double the government exchange rates.
Trophies harvested/shipped can be crated with multiple hunters if they are in the same party. Exportation is non-native species.
Dates
The Roar is the term for the rut in Red Stag terms. Similar to the north American elk rut where the bulls start ripping off bugles, gathering cows, tending cows, and battling for their harem. The Roar is only different in the sound which the Stag makes.
Dates best for this activity are the last two weeks of March – first weeks of May. There is still stag hunting going on for stags into August but that is more of the spot and stalk activity.
Trophy Quality
Trophy quality depends on Estancia. There are a few ranches to hunt and different lodges to stay at depending on the trophy quality desired. Free range hunts have been quite popular and opportunity to take multiple stags is an option. The free range pricing will depend on the quality of stag and can range from 11 points to 18+ point stags. Estate style hunting and trophy desired depends on the hunter and those prices will vary depending on the ranch.
