Alaskan Brown Grizzly Bear Hunt
This Alaskan Brown Grizzly Bear hunt takes place in unit 17 B and 19 B on the foothills to two small mountain ranges. The walking is on tundra but it’s relatively arid ground and good for walking. Because of the elevation it’s also great glassing above tree line. Which is a great place to stalk. The Alaskan fish and game considers this a dense population of bears and is attempting to manage this with hunters to bring the numbers back down. Good news for you!!! Lots and Lots of bears.
The Hunt
A typical day in camp will be spent with a short hike to glassing knob. Or hunters will be able to usually see for miles in multiple directions where bears feed on berries and fish. We hunt at the headwaters of a drainage that feeds the largest salmon fishery in the world. The big coastal bears are gorging themselves in the fall getting ready for hibernation. We take advantage of setting camps near food sources. You will have a great opportunity at a high percentage success hunt. The key to this hunt and what makes it special is the numbers of bears and the resultant high success.
Alaskan Brown Grizzly Bear Hunt ~ Trophy Quality
Because of the high density of bears in this area, success rates are over 90% and the Bears in the fall average 8 1/2 feet. In the spring hunt they average 9ft.
Food and Lodging
Fall hunts are all done out of fly in camps. We use outfitter grade tents, and cots. In the spring it is a snow machine hunt and cabin based hunt. Food prep is a big priority for us every year. We cook enough home cooked meals to have half the meals of the hunt with vacuum packed premade meals like lasagna, meatloaf, soups, and barbecue chicken. We also don’t like anyone to go home hungry so there’s plenty of sweets and snacks to go around. We pride ourselves on the food our hunters eat compared to standard Alaska remote camps which will be predominantly dehydrated food.
