Cordova Goat Hunt  

This is a fly in hunt located near Cordova, east of the Copper River, along the Gulf of Alaska. This is a limited guiding use area. Accessed via Bush Plane into the goat area. You and your guide will backpack up with 6-7 days’ worth of food and gear to where the goats are. From there your hunt starts. The ability to combo Brown Bear, Black Bear, Wolverine, and Wolf is an option also.

In the famed Chugach Mountain range, in a special use US Forest Service permitted area. This outfitter is the only guide service authorized to operate in this area for the past 10 years, the hunting pressure and human presence is very limited. This is a Backpack hunt, and very physical.  This is NOT a draw tag unit, both Bear species and Goats are over the counter tags.  You can book 7 days for goats with the option to combo on Black and Brown bear and 10 days 

Hunt Costs include food, tent, licensed and experienced guide, travel to and from hunting area.   

Accessed by jet boat or zodiac, you’ll off load at base camp which consists of 8×8 tents with cots where you and your guide will regroup and load packs for a true backpack hunt. From base camp you’ll have a physical climb up to above timberline. Fitness is key on this hunt.  Once spike camp is reached you will hike out from there to where the goats are. Typical elevation is 3,000-4,000 ft above sea level.  

Goats average 9.2” in length and amazing hair that time of year 

Brown Bears average 8.0-9.0 ft, with honest 10 ft bears in the area. Brown bears can be seen up where the goats are foraging in berry patches.  

Black bears are in abundance in this area with multiple sightings a day pending the time of year and berry crop.
