The Hunt
This New Mexico Elk Hunt with guaranteed tags is done by “spot and stalk” on rolling hills and 4-wheelers. Area 21B is the foothills side of the mountain. Area 21A is the steeper side. This outfitter tries to limit the amount of country covered on foot so hunters are strong and ready even on the 5th day of the hunt in case they need it. The elk tags are guaranteed but clients can apply and if they do they will save over 4000 on their hunt cost. There are lots of elk farther north which is much cooler. Prepare for weather as it can be 85 degrees one day and much cooler with some rain the next day.
Trophy Quality
This outfitter encourages the harvest of mature bulls only, however, if a hunter is happy with a certain animal, they will go with it. This outfitter is a hunter before a trophy hunter. Bulls are 6×6’s 300 or better on average and can be up to 380 in this area.
