This outfitter has almost 200,000 acres under lease with guaranteed tags.  He has a very high success rate throughout the season and runs both archery and rifle hunts.  His ranches are all in the Meeker, Craig and Steamboat area which is the epicenter of the most dense elk population in the world.  The reason I love putting clients with this ranch is the high success rate and the high quality outfitter for a very reasonable cost.  This is one of the “highest value” elk hunts I have. The hunts run for 5 days and hunters can combo up with a deer or an antelope for additional costs.

He has 12 different ranches that are all almost all below 9000 feet in elevation,  so as far as Colorado elk hunts go, this one is mild on both a terrain and elevation level.  The ranches obviously vary, but for the most part (considereing most of the ranches are well roaded) they require just “ok” physical fitness.  I would rate his ground between a 6-8 of 10 in difficulty.

Clients should be aware this is an 5 x 5 average elk hunt.  There are a LOT of elk on these ranches, but not necessarily a lot of big elk.  A shooter is consistently a 5 x 5 or a 6 x 6.  The minimum in this area is 4 points on one side. 300+ inch bulls are shot every year by my clients but, not many.

The main Craig lodge is very nice, (4 stars) and the other two lodges are nice and comfortable.  This outfitter prides himself on success and hard work.  This is not a fancy place but the food is awesome and the places are always clean.
