Hunting in Colorado - A Beautiful State
I have hunted all over the world in almost every western state and I have to say one of the most beautiful places to hunt elk and deer is in Colorado. The state itself is amazing and diverse with peaks over 14,000 feet and valleys down into the 4,000 feet range that almost all holds good populations of elk. The state also has an amazing landowner tag system that allows you to get a guaranteed tag every year.
Hunting in Colorado – Elk and Deer
As a hunting consultant I have access on over 400,000 acres in Colorado. Deer and elk hunts are nearly 100% success year after year on the rifle hunts and over 50% success with very high opportunity rates on archery elk. It’s lower on deer but that’s the nature of archery muley hunting…it’s just hard.
Hunting in Colorado – The Area and The Hunts
In the Craig and Meeker area, it’s amazing how many elk and deer there. The majority of operations I put my clients on in that area have very high success. Elk and deer combo hunts are a very real reality of success which is much rarer than people think. Deer in this area can push over the 200-inch mark but elk as a whole are smaller and usually in the 5 x 5 to 6 x 6 range but again, very high success. This area holds the densest population of elk in the world.
Outfitters and Guides
Elk outfitters and guides in the state of Colorado are also very affordable on a nationally comparable level as well. My outfitters hunt here start at $4950 for 5-day archery hunts and guided mule deer hunts start at $5500. Guided rifle elk hunts start at $6500 and again are very high success elk hunts, with guaranteed tags and private ranch elk hunts. If you hunt elk in the state of Colorado, you won’t regret it. It’s an amazing state to visit and an even better place to hunt elk. I’d be glad to help you find the right guided elk hunt.
